Roles and Responsibilities

1. Report to the head of the department in regard to the maintenance and repair of equipment.

2. Carry out the instructions of the head of the department to ensure that departments are provided with prompt service for their equipment.

3. Maintenance or repair of medical equipment as instructed by your HOD.

4. To oversee and be thoroughly acquainted with the repairs and services provided by the Service Engineers on each equipment in your charge.

5. To be thoroughly acquainted with the service contracts pertaining to all equipment assigned to your charge by the HOD.

6. To ensure that preventive maintenance of equipment in your charge is carried out as per the terms and conditions of the service contract.

7. To recommend to the HOD on the need to replace a particular item of equipment in your charge.

8. To maintain a register/ registers for all equipment in your charge pertaining to the response time, down time and parts changed and the economic viability of continued repair and utilization of equipment.

9. To monitor the calibration of laboratory equipment and others and to ensure that the service company provides a detailed report of calibration and results for each equipment.

10. Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
